Dana Davis, MA, LPC

Psychotherapist, Outpatient Services

dana-davis.jpgMs. Davis is a licensed professional counselor with 10 years experience in the mental health field. She provides family and individual psychotherapy for children and adolescents on an outpatient basis. Her clinical interests include play therapy, parent education, family dynamics, creative therapies, and school/community issues faced by families. Ms. Davis is a member of the Texas Counseling Association, Association for Play Therapy, and Texas Association for Play Therapy.

Delana Davis, LCSW

Psychotherapist, Inpatient Service

Ms. Davis provides individual, group and family therapy in the Center's inpatient program. Her work also includes conducting psychosocial assessments and writing treatment plans. Ms. Davis' clinical interests include group therapy, family interventions, self-esteem training, and therapy with high-risk adolescents from inner city areas.

Rick Edwards, LPC

Director of Inpatient Services, LPC Supervisor

rick-edwards.jpgRick Edwards directs the Acute, Residential and Partial Hospital Programs. He has worked at the Center since 1976. He has provided individual and family therapy to countless children and adolescents. His experience includes supervision of counselors and interns, as well as training psychiatric residents. Mr. Edwards' clinical interests include perpetrators of abuse, self-injurious behaviors, family dynamics, and anxiety disorders. He is also a member of the Texas Counseling Association.

Wayne J. Ehrisman, PhD, ABPP

Chief Psychologist, Director of Psychological Services

wayne-ehrisman.jpgDr. Ehrisman began working at the Center over 33 years ago. He directs the Psychological Assessment Services, provides supervision, training and consultation to clinical staff and trainees and supervises the psychology residency rotation. Dr. Ehrisman is affiliated with several organizations, including the American Psychological Association, the American Academy of Clinical Psychology, the American Board of Professional Psychology, San Antonio Society for Psychoanalytic Studies, Texas Psychological Association, Bexar County Psychological Association, and the National Register of Health Services Providers in Psychology. His academic affiliations include Clinical Professor, Department of Psychiatry at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio and Adjunct Faculty at the Houston-Galveston Psychoanalytic Institute. Dr. Ehrisman's clinical interests include psychoanalytic/psychodynamic approaches to diagnostic assessment and psychotherapy with children, adults and families.

Geoff Gentry, PhD

Psychologist, Vice President of Clinical Services

geoff-gentry.jpgDr. Gentry is responsible for the clinical administration of SMHC’s clinical programs as well as the admissions and case management departments. He is also the chair of the SMHC Training Committee and provides clinical supervision for SMHC therapists. Dr. Gentry is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Psychiatry Department at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio where he teaches and provides supervision for psychiatry and psychology residents. Dr. Gentry has given numerous presentations on child and adolescent mental health issues. He is a member of the Bexar County Psychological Association, the San Antonio Society for Psychoanalytic Studies, and the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. His clinical interests include psychodynamic psychotherapy, integration of individual and family assessment and therapy, staff development, and clinical consultation.

Jeffrey Grimes, PhD

Clinical Psychologist

jeff-grimes.jpgDr. Grimes provides outpatient psychotherapy, psychological assessments, and inpatient consultations.  He is actively involved in the training of psychology residents and the inpatient staff at SMHC.  His clinical interests include clinical case formulation, projective assessment, and psychoanalytically-informed psychotherapy. Dr. Grimes is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Psychiatry Department at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He is a member of the American Psychological Association and the San Antonio Society for Psychoanalytic Studies.

Lauren Groves, MA, LPC, LCDC

Director of Substance Abuse Services

lauren-groves.jpgLauren Groves is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor, a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor and is listed on the National Registry of Certified Group Psychotherapists. Previously, she was a certified school counselor with five teaching specialties including Special Education. Mrs. Groves provides psychoeducational services by leading inpatient teen groups on substance abuse and prevention. She is an outpatient therapist who treats people with dual diagnosis involving substance abuse issues. Mrs. Groves also helps individuals who have been impacted by family alcohol or substance abuse. Mrs. Groves is a member of the Texas Association of Addiction Professionals, the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC), the San Antonio Psychotherapy Society, the American Group Psychotherapy Association, and the Medical Center Rotary Club. Currently, Mrs. Groves serves as secretary for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) San Antonio.

Jan Marie Hernandez, LCSW

jan-marie.jpgMs. Hernandez provides individual, family and group psychotherapy for children and adolescents in the Acute Care and Partial Hospital programs. Ms. Hernandez has 15 years experience in mental health and is trained in CPR, Basic First Aid and non-violent crisis prevention (CPI). She is a member of the San Antonio Society for Psychoanalytic Studies, Texas Association for Play Therapy, Alamo Area Mediators Association, San Antonio Group Psychotherapy Society, American Group Psychotherapy Association and the National Association of Social Workers. Her clinical interests include family dynamics, mediation, psychodynamic therapy, psychotherapy groups, solution-focused brief therapy and therapeutic game play.

Ramona Leonards, LPC

Psychotherapist, Outpatient Service

ramona-leonards.jpgMs. Leonards has over 27 years experience in mental health counseling and consultation services. She came to the center as a liaison between SMHC and the Northside ISD, providing consultation and counseling services to students in regular education who did not have access to mental health services. She has worked with various school districts throughout her career and has a wide knowledge of community resources. Her clinical interests include depressive disorders, trauma recovery, anxiety disorders, sexual abuse recovery and developmental disorders, such as Asperger's disorder.

Marina Martinez, LMSW

Psychotherapist, Inpatient Service

Marina Martinez is a Licensed Master Social Worker. Ms. Martinez provides individual, family and group psychotherapy for children and adolescents in the Acute Care, Residential and Partial Hospital programs. Her clinical interests include family dynamics, individual psychotherapy with children and adolescents, psychotherapy groups, reality therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy. 

Joanna Meek, LPC

Psychotherapist, Inpatient Service

Ms. Meek has over 10 years experience working in the mental health field. Her training includes cognitive-behavioral counseling, assessment services, play therapy, reality therapy and art therapy. Her clinical interests include reactive attachment disorder, early onset schizophrenia and bipolar disorder in children.

Poul C. Poulsen, MA, LPC

poul-poulsen.jpgMr. Poulsen provides individual and family therapy for children and adolescents at the Center. Mr. Poulsen's training and experience includes cognitive behavioral therapy, psychological assessment and behavior analysis. With over 11 years of experience, his clinical interests and previous work experience include depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, anger management, group therapy, behavior problems and family issues.

Eva Schiotis, LPC

Psychotherapist, Inpatient Service

With over 20 years of counseling experience, Ms. Schiotis' clinical interests include child sexual abuse, depressive disorders, play therapy, and rational emotive therapy.

Diana Treviño, LCSW
