SMHC Outpatient Hand Therapy

The SMHC Hand Therapy program offers a comprehensive Hand and Upper Extremity Rehabilitation Program. Therapists work in conjunction with referring physicians to provide quality care and positive outcomes. Our therapists, including a certified hand therapist at our Therapy Center at 13 July Street in Sanford, are trained to treat a variety of conditions to promote functional independence, minimize pain and provide self-management strategies for overall wellness and independence.

  • Joint Replacements
  • Crush injuries
  • Arthritis

Treatment Includes:

  • Hand Assessment
  • Custom splinting
  • Modalities (heat, cold, e-stim, ultrasound, fluidotherapy)
  • Edema management
  • Strengthening
  • Soft tissue mobilization
  • Patient education / self-management strategies
  • Ergonomics assessment
