For the third consecutive year, the AVX Kyocera Foundation has provided SMHC with a $10,000 donation for equipment purchase. The Foundation awards grants in support of projects that have an impact on the local communities where its corporate sponsor, AVX Corporation has operating facilities. Bob Fairey, the plant manager of Biddeford-based AVX/Tantalum, presented the award; noting that "AVX/Tantalum employees depend on SMHC for outstanding medical care and the Foundation's grant is intended to support your critical work."
In accepting the gift, Frank Lavoie, MD, SMHC Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer commented, "We deeply appreciate the Foundation's continued generosity. This donation is a perfect fit with AVX’s work to build components used in Pacemakers and our plans to expand our cardiac procedures."
In the past, AVX Kyocera Foundation’s generous donations have been used to support state-of-the-art telemetry bed technology for monitoring cardiac patients and a sophisticated defibrillator for the Emergency department at SMHC.
