Patricia A. Bibber, president of the Southern Maine Health Care (SMHC) Auxiliary, announced today at the Annual Meeting of the Auxiliary that Stacy Cleary and Joanne Livingston were each chosen to receive a $1,000 scholarship from the SMHC Auxiliary Employee Recognition Scholarship program, now in its fourth year.
Cleary is enrolled at Saint Joseph's College of Maine completing her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree and was recently accepted into Master’s of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree program. She is currently the Risk Management Specialist at SMHC and will be utilizing the scholarship funds to obtain her certification in risk management. Clearly adds, “This certification will provide me with the best possible knowledge base that will allow me to perform at the highest level possible ultimately benefiting the SMHC Medical Center.”
Livingston is enrolled at the University of Southern Maine completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Leadership and Organizational Studies. She is currently the Volunteer Supervisor at SMHC’s Sanford Medical Center and will be utilizing the scholarship funds to bridge the gap between tuition reimbursement and expenses. Livingston adds, “I am deeply committed to helping to make my community the best it can be. I am proud to be an SMHC employee and I wear my badge with honor. I believe the knowledge and skills that I am gaining through my program of studies will make me a more valuable employee for many years to come.”
In announcing the scholarship, Ms. Bibber remarked: “This scholarship was established to recognize the dedicated service of employees of SMHC and to help them acquire additional education. Knowledge is priceless and this program allows us to reinvest in SMHC’s greatest asset – their people – which in turn benefits our community.” She also expressed her gratitude to Auxilians Joan Gordon, Joan Dawson, and Denise LaRoche, who coordinated the application process and interviewed the potential recipients.
In accepting their scholarships, the recipients were deeply grateful for the financial assistance given to them by the Auxiliary in order to continue their studies. They were thankful for the Auxiliary’s confidence in them and are excited to pursue the next levels of their respective goals in education.
