May 2015 - Apr 2015
On July 9, join members of the Southern Maine Medical Center (SMMC) Auxiliary at the Arundel Barn Playhouse, 53 Old Post Road, Arundel, for the “Chicago" production. The curtain will rise at 8 p.m. for a lively show filled with laughter and fun.
Chicago is the story of the roaring 20s in which Roxie Hart murders her faithless lover, is convicted and sent to death row where she and Velma Kelly, another merry murderess, vie for the public spotlight. Add Billy Flynn, a smarmy lawyer, Warden Mama Morton and the female inmates of death row, Amos Hart and Mary Sunshine to these real life 1924 criminal cases of women, betrayed and catapulted to celebrity fame. Wild music, bootleg gin and razzle dazzle makes this all American musical an exhilarating evening of live theatre.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the SMHC Auxiliary’s $90,000 pledge to help renovate ten inpatient semi-private rooms to private rooms. This will ensure patient safety, increase privacy, and enhance our healing environment for patients. Each room will be equipped with a comfortable visiting area and a day bed so loved ones can stay over if they choose. We hope you will join us to help support this transformative project.
Tickets are $39 per person and may be purchased by calling Fran Morin at 284-4922 or by sending a check payable to SMHC Auxiliary to: SMHC Auxiliary - Chicago, 1 Medical Center Drive, Biddeford, ME 04005. Please RSVP by June 25 and bring some friends!
