Southern Maine Medical Center (SMMC) and Goodall Hospital are expanding access to cardiology services in Sanford. Beginning on July 23, SMHC Physicians Cardiologist Shabbir Reza, M.D. F.A.C.C. (pictured right) will be available for consults at the Goodall Medical Office Building located at 25A June Street in Sanford.
“As SMHC and Goodall Hospital prepare to merge as Southern Maine Medical Center (SMHC) on January 1, 2014, we are already working together to offer our patients more convenient access to high quality care,” said SMHC and SMHC President/CEO Ed McGeachey. “Dr. Reza is a board certified, fellowship trained cardiologist who has received the highest ratings from the National Committee for Quality Assurance and Bridges to Excellence for heart and stroke care. Combining the strengths of Goodall Hospital and SMHC will ensure a healthier future for York County, and we’re pleased to offer patients in the Sanford/ Springvale area additional opportunities to receive the highest level of cardiac care.”
“An important benefit of expanding cardiology care in Sanford is that our patients can see a cardiologist without having to travel outside of the community,” added Goodall Hospital President/CEO Patsy Aprile. “By working with SMHC, we have been able to provide greater access to important cardiac care close to home; which is one of the key goals of the SMHC merger.”
Dr. Reza completed his residency and fellowship training in Cardiology at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington, Connecticut. Reza is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine for Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease, the National Board of Echocardiography in Adult Echocardiography, and the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology.
Patients may make an appointment with Dr. Reza through their primary care physician.
