BIDDEFORD, Maine – November 19, 2013 – For the last 10 years, Southern Maine Medical Center (SMMC) has made it a tradition to show a group of local seniors that the caregivers at the hospital are thankful for all that our seniors have done for our community. On November 14, SMHC thanked the seniors at the Senior Center at Lower Village in Kennebunk by serving them an early Thanksgiving meal, piping hot with all the fixings, prepared by Chef Mike Sabo and the culinary staff at SMHC’s Café.
“I can’t believe it’s been 10 years! Please accept my heartfelt thanks for always making the Thanksgiving luncheon so special for our members and our staff to,” wrote Executive Director Susan Pettit in a thank you note following the event. “Your luncheon is the ‘kick off’ to the holiday season for some and for others it’s the only chance they get to share a holiday meal with anyone. We so appreciate all you do to make them feel special, in a very warm and friendly way. From the decorations and food to the tremendous volunteers, it is a wonderful event for all.”
